Curly Dock
Curly dock is a perennial plant ranging from 1 to 3 feet tall The leaves can grow up to 6 inches long and 1 inch across and alternate along the ribbed, hairless stem. They are generally wavy and dark green, growing larger at the bottom of the plant. The flowers of curly dock are generated in early June and will stay until late October.
The flowers occur in clusters on the long stem, growing straight up from the top of the plant.
When they first bloom, they are a light shade of green, which then turns into a dry-looking reddish brown color. There are no petals on the flowers of curly dock. Curly Dock is a medicinal plant that can be used to counteract the discomfort.
It alleviates the itch caused by poison ivy rash.
Curly dock can soothe skin inflamed by stinging nettles.
Just roll one of the fresh, green leaves of curly dock between thumb and forefinger, to crush it into a juicy pulp; then rub it on your burning skin.
